The title should give it away I guess.
I have only recently started listening to The Clash, but it has pretty much changed my attitude towards music.
For a long time before listening to The Clash, I had a very negative attitude towards punk music in general. An almost punk-like attitude, I was basically a punk who was anti-punk(retarded I know)...
Then last year during our local film festival I read a wicked little blurb about a guy called Joe Strummer, while reading through it I saw that he was the singer of The Clash(which if it had been a couple of months earlier I'd have said "f*** that"), I was at a time where I was going to go and buy London Calling anyway, but I thought what the hell I'll go watch this doco.
Well needless to say it changed me watching that, and watching that man, how passionate he was and everything.
So yeeeah I was pretty much sold after watching that. Now I've got three of their albums, and they all kick ass. Though I personally love London Calling(who doesn't), just the whole reggae influences and that.
The reason for my anti punk attitude can be blamed on my older brothers, who have been a major influence over me, but now I'm happy to say I'm finally starting to have my own opinions about music. Now they don't like talking to me about music, but oh well....
"Everybody smash up your seats and rock to this brand new beat!"
You Can Wish for much more than this...
...for a first album. Great effort, espeacially considering the amount of time the band had been together prior. But the record industry moved much quicker and swifter back then. Now they're ending up like the dinosaurs.
Fifteen tracks, no one gets that these days for a first album, even a re-release!
