A little acrylic/tempera painting that took 90 mins from basic sketch on canvas board to last stroke. Used a small pic from a google image search printout and a bit of imagination... Unfortunately, I wasn't aware that some of the paint I used was poster paint (tempera... my usual medium is acrylic, which dries much quicker) and it was very wet for a while, and not as opaque as the acrylic... but it still made an interesting effect and I stuck with it (I didn't want to dissociate from the wavelength/groove I already was in, and I didn't plan on "overdubbing" the painting)...the ghetto blaster in the background was something from childhood memory and was painted with a little bit of black paint on an unpainted background... the bumps in the board and a light brush application provided the halftone effect, same as Joe's face... a colleague at the resource connection center (this was during an open workshop for people recovering from mental illnesses) said it had a very "Cold War" look to it...which was really the feeling I connected to when going back to my youth and how The Clash was such a huge influence on me while I was a teen in the early 1980's.
