Hello all ! I've been a Clash fan since I first heard their cover of Eddy Grant's « Police on my Back » on the radio in 1981. Music never was the same for me after that ! Passion, empowerment, envolvement and a new sense of belonging became the name of the game.
I've been fortunate enough to see two incarnations of the band live : 1982 (sans Topper Headon *sig *) and 1984 (the Clash Mack II). The Clash live at Montreal Verdun Auditorium Sept. 4, 1982 remains the best live show I have ever seen, period.
I had the privilege of seeing some of them in their post-Clash live career ; Joe Strummer & his fantastic Mescaleros, Paul Simonon with Havana 3AM. But not Mick with BAD (*sigh*), with hopes set reasonably high with C/S.
The Clash is still the Only Band that Matters.
