I saw the Clash every night during their run at the Lyceum in London in 1981 (just after Sandinista was released). One night while walking to the show, someone overheard our American accents and asked us for a hit and it was Lenny (Futura). He got us in back stage and we met the band. Only Joe had time to talk to us and made us feel great. He got us the front row seats in the balcony. Halfway into the show, he said, :just cause I got you those seats, does not mean you don't have to dance."

Years later, I saw him on the streets of NY outside the Algonquin Hotel and I said hi. He asked if he knew me and I said that we met at the Lyceum. He thought for a moment and he said, "you're the f***er who didn't dance!"

Joe Strummer, If you know what happened at bonds, the over selling of tickets and the adding of shows, this is my best memory. The first night was so packed it was hard to even enjoy, well with a date anyway. I had tickets for the first and last night. with the add on of dates the last became the middle, oh well. this time no date and no crowd. it seemed to be almost empty.
After the first knock out tunes it settle down and they did "Junco partner" I was able to walk down right in front of the man. Comfortably and watch one of the most amazing pouring out of the heart. The sweat the spittle as he sang,an amazing performance. right now i'm getting chills up my neck thinking of it. Feeling
the pain the songs deals and a man who seem to know its truths all to well. Just amazing. It is burned in my memory forever. I had open space around me, swaying with the beat, the lights, The Clash....The Only Band
