On January 1st, 1980, The Clash released their masterpiece London Calling in the US- on Friday, January 1st, 2010, at the Middle East in Cambridge MA, Boston's Destroy Babylon is throwing the ultimate 30th anniversary bash, performing all 19 songs of London Calling, and then some. Boston's afro-funk titans, The Macrotones, will be joining them both as an opener and as a guest horn section for London Calling. Having grown up worshiping the Clash, there is no band better suited for this challenge and no better way to reverse your hangover on New Years Day. Tickets are $10 in advance, show is 18+ and doors at 8pm.

This past October, Performer Magazine wrote, "Roots reggae/dub protectors Destroy Babylon are a case study in DIY success... they've diligently built themselves an empire that landed them on bills this summer with some architects of the sacred sounds they proselytize: The Wailers, Lee "Scratch" Perry and Eek-A-Mouse... the crew began and remains fiercely independent." The band toured down the East Coast and as far west as Colorado this summer in support of their latest release, Culture Pirates, a 7" vinyl + 28 page art book. With Destroy Babylon consistently touring and recording, the punky reggae party started by the Clash rages on.
